Obstacles:
One of our main obstacles was finding reliable sources that had recent, accurate information that we could use for our research. We were both able to find trustworthy sources that weren’t out of date.
Even though our school and outside lives and both been very busy, especially during finals week and preparing for it, we both managed our time wisely and were able to set aside time to get our website complete and do it well.
Personal Reflection:
Alexander: Our career cluster is the Consumer Economics career cluster which deals with the preparation of food and beverages. The 2 main careers that I was really interested in during this project was a Pastry chef and a Food Critic. I have always been interested in baking and everything to do with food. I learned exactly what a pastry chef need to do by being able to make pretty much anything under the sun and working long days. You don’t need the most experience, but it pays off to have more experience, literally. I also learned that a food critic should have a degree in the communication, English, or Journalism field as well as be aware of food and how to critique it. The next steps I can take to learn more about this career is the research more and understand more about both careers so I can figure out if it is right for me, by me going out on my own and interviewing people and doing more baking at home as if I had it as a small job and I could make desserts upon request for small events.
Irene: The career cluster that we chose was Consumer Economics. During this project, I learned about careers that appealed the most to me in this cluster. They were head chef and cake decorator. A head chef is someone who is able to lead others and keep things in control. Meanwhile, I personally do not enjoy being in charge, but I do like keeping things organized. On the other hand, a cake decorator has a task that interests me more, but I don’t enjoy standing still for long periods of time. I prefer to be moving around while working on something. Through this project I was able to learn and discover some more of my interests. Although I do not see myself pursuing a career in this field, I can say that it can be something I can still enjoy doing on my free time. I personally enjoy making crafts, but this project helped me realized that I do not need to limit myself to how I can express my creativity. If I were to pursue a career in this cluster, I would start off by researching more careers that fit my preferences. After I have decided, I can talk to professionals in the career. And finally, I can practice the skills required by taking classes.
